ATCC

ATCC

Customer Overview

ATCC sells biotechnology products, including those with very strict distribution rules such as anthrax.  The ATCC site is a Sitecore + Insite E-Commerce implementation that contains approximately 880,000 total SKUs, 1.2 million Sitecore items and 45 million Sitecore fields. The site also supports access to an integrated distributor portal with regionalized product offerings for European markets, LGC Standards. The site uses Endeca as a search platform to index its extensive product catalog. The ATCC site is the largest Insite deployment in the world.

Business Challenge

ATCC wanted to move from offering a website that was just an online catalog with fax and phone orders to a total eCommerce solution. With 600,000 SKUs, navigating the online catalog was frustrating for users. As part of a highly regulated industry, ATCC's requirements included compliance with federal regulations as well as improving the user experience.

NTT DATA Solution

The Sitecore CMS + Insite Ecommerce implementation provided a strong user experience with easier navigation and search. It also allowed for key B2B functionality such as multi-currency and specialty pricing, the ability to share wish lists and approve an order, as well as provided shipping and materials handling that was compliant with Federal regulations. Most importantly, with the full integration to ATCC's ERP system, the redundancy of the ERP data in the website database allowed users to still use the site when the ERP was out of commission.

Results

The ATCC E-Commerce site is tightly integrated with their ERP system due to complex regulatory requirements and customer specific pricing rules. Insite's windows integration service is used to give real-time customer specific pricing and create real-time quotes directly in the ERP.

The ATCC system handles hundreds of thousands of real-time calls to the ERP system per day. The site handles ERP outages gracefully by maintaining the cart locally before submitting to the ERP for pricing quotes.  During an outage, the cart is preserved and automatically resubmitted when the ERP is online again.  Users whose checkout process is interrupted are notified via email when the system comes online again.  The checkout process includes the ability to send a user's cart to purchasing agent, a common scenario for large companies and institutions working with ATCC.

The ATCC E-Commerce site integrates three separate e-commerce checkout flows into a single Sitecore site that shares products and other content to reduce replication of effort and provide a portal with world-wide reach. IP geo-location is used to determine whether the user will use the ATCC, International or distributor checkout and provide the correct permits and routing of the order. Customers in the European region are routed to a separately branded portal that shares content with ATCC but allows editors to add or remove specific pages using Sitecore role security and provide a separate checkout process with rules specific to that region.

Chip Ganassi Racing

In January 2014, ChipGanassiRacing.com launched, providing fans and sponsors with a single place to learn more about CGRT across all the series in which it races: IndyCar, NASCAR, and the United SportsCar Championship. With its migration to Sitecore, CGRT now has a site that conveys the diversity of its series, teams, and drivers, all unified under a single brand with a passion for winning.

The new site improves the fan and sponsor experience through:
  • Unified content, with news regarding its seven teams combined in one area.
  • Improved navigation, enabling fans to easily dive deep into content about their favorite drivers and teams.
  • Self-service. Sitecore’s intuitive user interface makes it easy for CGRT marketing professionals to keep content fresh.
  • More relevant content, through automated news alerts.
  • Business intelligence. With the new site, CGRT can track how visitors use the site, providing it with the insight to meet the needs of fans and sponsors.
  • Ability to attract younger audiences through social media integration.
A platform for the future. CGRT has ambitious plans for offering more personalized experiences to their fans and partners. Sitecore’s engagement platform, which includes personalization and marketing automation, gives the CGRT a launch pad for the future.
Customer Overview
Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) is the only organization in motorsports that races an astonishing seven teams across three different auto racing series. Despite the impressive number of cars, drivers, and crew, the organization sees itself as “one team.” This philosophy has helped CGRT rack up an impressive number of championships. But its website didn’t reflect this one-team approach, sending NASCAR, IndyCar, and SportsCar fans and sponsors in different directions to find information about individual Chip Ganassi teams. CGRT turned to its partner, NTT DATA for help. Now, visitors to the racing powerhouse’s new website experience a unified and highly visual interface and more robust content, which enables CGRT to deepen and expand relationships with fans and sponsors.
Business Challenge The team’s website did not enable fans to experience the full breadth of Chip Ganassi Racing Teams’ culture and legacy. “The website didn’t tell the story of who Chip is as an owner or who we are as an organization,” said John Olguin, VP of Communications for CGRT. “Virtually no one does what we do – competing in three entirely different forms of racing – at the same level and scale that we do it,” he said.
The old site virtually kept fans of different series apart, and made it difficult for, say, a NASCAR Ganassi fan to find information about an IndyCar Ganassi team. With control over content in the hands of contracted vendors, CGRT found it challenging to post timely information about races and drivers. As a result, fans were turning to other sites for this information, and CGRT was losing an opportunity to connect with fans and sponsors.
NTT DATA Solution NTT DATA’s Interactive Services team proposed a site redesign that would present a unified Chip Ganassi brand message and provide visitors with a richer, highly visual user experience. NTT DATA recommended building ChipGanassiRacing.com on Sitecore, a leading enterprise-level content management system. With rich support for desktop and mobile browsing, personalization, and marketing automation, Sitecore would give CGRT the tool it needed to manage content, analytics, and the fan experience.
